From a background of business and consumer journalism (The Sunday Post, The Grocer, Publican), Rob is now chairman of the UK’s longest established PR agency. His 31-year PR career has included working closely with blue-chip fmcg marketers such as Proctor & Gamble, Pernod Ricard, DuPont, Cadbury and Mitsubishi Corporation, as well as numerous other businesses, brands, generic promoters and entrepreneurial start-ups.
Rob originally joined Richmond & Towers in 1989, before leaving to run The Rowland Company in the UK and then the pan-European integrated marketing network Saatchi & Saatchi Rowland. He set up his own PR agency, Chrome Consulting, in 2000 which merged with Richmond & Towers as part of a management buyout in 2005. In 2019 he sold the business to its employees.
Rob’s proudest PR moment is being described by The Guardian as “the evil genius who got us all hooked on avocados” following a 15-year campaign promoting avocados in the UK. He is a chartered marketer, chair of the PRCA Sustainability Group, and a non-executive director of the workplace wellness and sustainability engagement company Jump.
