Susan is a nutrition scientist and leads a research team at the University of Oxford. Her research is focused in two main areas. Firstly interventions to support healthier and more sustainable food purchasing in grocery stores and out-of-home settings, and secondly, interventions to treat obesity in routine NHS services. She has a particular interest in the translation of scientific evidence into policy and practice. She was the science lead for the UK Government Foresight report on obesity (2005-7), chaired the Expert Advisory Group on Obesity (2007-2011), the Responsibility Deal food network (2011-2015) and is currently Chair of the Food Standards Agency.
